Use and Throw?

Legend has it that this device was named for its inventor, a British physician who lived during the reign of Charles II. There is no direct evidence that such a person existed and the origin of the word must be recorded as unknown.Respectable dictionaries did not include such words until very recently (the OED did not until 1972 even though there is an 1888 letter to James Murray, that venerable dictionary's first editor, containing the earliest known citation of the term's use).
This first known use of the term was in 1705 when John Campbell, the second duke of Argyll, travelled from London to Edinburgh bringing with him a "certain instrument called a ______, occasioned ye debauching of a great number of Ladies, and young gentlewomen."

What am i talking about?
