Monty Norman claims that Y was inspired by the "Good Sign Bad Sign" sung by Indian characters in A House for Mr Biswas, a musical he composed based on a novel by V.S. Naipaul set in the Indian community in Trinidad. Norman showed his manuscript music from A House for Mr Biswas in a filmed interview and sang its lyrics. In 2005, Norman released an album called Completing the Circle that features "Good Sign Bad Sign", the "Y," and a similar sounding song titled "________." For these songs Norman added lyrics that explain the origin and history of the "Y".

Hence courts have ruled twice that the theme was written by Norman despite claims and testimony by Z that he had actually written the theme. Norman has consequently won two libel actions against publishers for claiming that Z wrote the theme, most recently against The Sunday Times in 2001. However, it is generally acknowledged that Z came up with the arrangement used in ______.

In 1935, a 24 year old Tadao Yoshida was working for a company producing X. While he was impressed by the product, his employer went bankrupt. In 1936 Yoshida founded the company that is today Y in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
In January 1946 the company registered the now famous Y trademark. A major technological change came in 1950, when the company purchased a chain machine from the U.S. that allowed the automation of the X making process. In 1958, the company introduced its new Conceal brand that does not show the teeth of the X which was an instant hit.
Today, Y is the world's largest X manufacturer and  claims to be the first X manufacturing company to promote environmental protection measures. Y developed a line of "environmentally friendly X", following the company's philosophy "The Cycle of Goodness" which means that one prospers when one renders benefit to others.
It is a very difficult task to find X without Y's name on it!

ID X.

X first came into being as a medicinal substance, since the mucilaginous extracts from the root of the X plant, Althaea officinalis, were praised as a soothing remedy for sore throats. Concoctions of other parts of the X plant had medical uses as well. The root has been used since Egyptian antiquity in a honey-sweetened confection useful in the treatment of sore throat. The later French version of the recipe, called pâté de guimauve (or "guimauve" for short), included an eggwhite meringue and was often flavored withrose water. Pâté de guimauve more closely resembles contemporary commercially available X, which no longer contain any actual X.

The use of X to make a candy dates back to ancient Egypt, where the recipe called for extracting sap from the plant and mixing it with nuts and honey. Another pre-modern recipe uses the pith of the X plant, rather than the sap. The stem was peeled back to reveal the soft and spongy pith, which was boiled in sugar syrup and dried to produce a soft, chewy confection.Candymakers in early 19th century France made the innovation of whipping up the X sap and sweetening it, to make a confection similar to modern X.

The etymology of the phrase X can be traced back to Scandinavia. _____ is a Scandinavian word for tax. The word spread to the UK and other parts of the world, taking similar meanings (tax, payment etc ...).

Soon, this word came to be associated with a phrase for not paying one's taxes, the phrase being X.

Early occurrences of the phrase, in print, include John Mitchell Kemble's Codex Diplomaticus, John Mapley's Green Forest and Robert Greene's Pandosto.

Now, X is used to mean the act of getting away with something wrong, without punishment.

Use and Throw?

Legend has it that this device was named for its inventor, a British physician who lived during the reign of Charles II. There is no direct evidence that such a person existed and the origin of the word must be recorded as unknown.Respectable dictionaries did not include such words until very recently (the OED did not until 1972 even though there is an 1888 letter to James Murray, that venerable dictionary's first editor, containing the earliest known citation of the term's use).
This first known use of the term was in 1705 when John Campbell, the second duke of Argyll, travelled from London to Edinburgh bringing with him a "certain instrument called a ______, occasioned ye debauching of a great number of Ladies, and young gentlewomen."

According to a study at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Western Ontario in Canada, X were more effective in deactivating hydrogen peroxide than Y, and both were more effective than gin or vermouth alone (0.072% of peroxide control for X, 0.157% for Y 58.3% for gin and 1.90% for vermouth). The reason for this is not clear, but it may well not involve the facile oxidation of reactive components. Moreover, preliminary experiments indicate that both X and Y are less well endowed with polyphenols than Sauvignon white wine or Scotch whisky.

Its Terrific!

The film X engendered controversy (and efforts at suppression in early 1941 through intimidation, blackmail, newspaper smears, discrediting and FBI investigations) before it premiered in New York City on May 1, 1941, because it appeared to fictionalize and caricaturize certain events and individuals in the life of  Y - a powerful newspaper magnate and publisher. The film was accused of drawing remarkable, unflattering, and uncomplimentary parallels to real-life. The notorious battle was detailed in Thomas Lennon's and Michael Epstein's Oscar-nominated documentary The Battle Over X (1996), and it was retold in HBO's cable-TV film RKO 281 (1999) (the film's title referred to the project numbering for the film by the studio, before the film was formally titled).
The gossip columnist Louella Parsons persuaded her boss Y that he was being slandered by RKO and X when it was first previewed, so the Y-owned newspapers (and other media outlets) pressured theatres to boycott the film and also threatened libel lawsuits. Y also ordered his publications to completely ignore the film, and not accept advertising for other RKO projects.

straight drive..

X (born 7 October 1952) is a former cricketer who played for Victoria and Australia. He captained Australia briefly during the tumultuous era of World Series Cricket (WSC) in the late 1970s. A technically correct left-handed batsman, X invariably batted near the top of the order for Australia during a stop-start career that began in 1975–76 against the West Indies. He enjoyed a long and successful career with his home state Victoria, leading them to two Sheffield Shield titles. X remains the "forgotten" captain of Australia, as his profile is considerably less than contemporaries such as the Chappell brothers and Allan Border. More than any other Australian player.
He was appointed captain for the 1978–79 Ashes series.X made a naïve prediction before the series when he said that his team would win 6–0. X was "bewildered" when his "flippant" prediction was reported straight-faced by the media and taken seriously by the English players. The undermanned Australian team was annihilated 5–1, its worst thrashing in a Test series.

In his account of the 1978-79 Ashes series "The Ashes Retained" England captain Mike Brearley reported that the English players nicknamed X "Banzai" because of his tendency to adopt suicidally attacking fields at all times, when on occasion a more defensive approach may have prevented the England team's free scoring.

ID W,X,Y and Z

W and her two younger sisters, X and Y, were part of an educational experiment carried out by their father Z, who sought to prove that children could make exceptional achievements if trained in a specialist subject from a very early age. "Geniuses are made, not born," was Z's thesis. He and his wife Klara educated their three daughters at home, with ____ as the specialist subject. The father also taught his three daughters Esperanto. Most of her family eventually emigrated to Israel, but W moved to New York after marrying an American in 1994.

Although W's home was very humble, her father was a man with a unique vision. A trained psychologist, Z, had made a deep study of the childhood origins of genius. The archetypal example was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Already composing at the age of five, he seemed to be the classic case of a child born with special gifts, but Z noted that Mozart's father Leopold, himself an accomplished musician, gave his son early and invaluable schooling in his craft.

Z decided that specialised training was more important than natural talent and he had an astonishing plan that would put his theory to the test.

When W was born in April of 1969, the family experiment was underway.

Z planned to train W in mathematics but, she chose her own future by a happy accident. One day while searching for a new toy, she happened across a ________. Z himself was convinced he could train his daughter to be a genius at anything, as long as she was a willing student.
