The common phenomenon - the "X effect" traces its origin back to olden day spell-checkers, wherein, when you type the word "cooperation", it spell checks to X. The reason being that, olden day computers had only the hyphenated form (co-operation) in their dictionary. This spelling review to X was quite a highlight in the early days of computing, when Apple was the pioneer in the field.

X had been living in the Mumbai Chabad House and working for Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka, caring for the Holtzbergs' son Moshe since his birth. The Holtzbergs were the Israel-born directors of the house run by the global Orthodox Jewish Chabad movement.
On November 26, 2008, as the Mumbai attacks began, a group of attackers entered the Chabad house and began shooting at everyone inside. X heard gunshots and locked herself in a laundry room but soon emerged from the room and ran upstairs hearing Rivka scream, there she found Gavriel and Rivka motionless and covered in blood with Moshe crying beside them, his pants drenched in blood. With the attackers still inside, X grabbed Moshe and ran from the building. Later, when Indian commandos stormed the house, it was confirmed that Gavriel and Rivka were among the 173 people killed in the attacks, and that Moshe was now an orphan.
The Chabad movement's leaders decided Moshe could not stay in India and that he would be relocated to Israel where he has family. However, the movement insisted that X be allowed to go with him, as X was the only one, the boy was responding to. Although X had no passport or papers, Moshe's grand uncle, Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman, helped arrange for her to get a visa to come to Israel with Holtzberg to help him start his new life. The Israeli government under Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni granted X a special visa offering immigration status.
X was awarded permanent resident status and honorary Israeli citizenship on 13 September 2010.

G.H.Hardy use to rate mathematical proof in a certain manner. He used to consider a brilliant proof as being in the ___ class. Later on he realised that the there was a higher class than the one he was using as the highest and so suitably changed this rating. What system did he use to rate mathematical proofs?

Monty Norman claims that Y was inspired by the "Good Sign Bad Sign" sung by Indian characters in A House for Mr Biswas, a musical he composed based on a novel by V.S. Naipaul set in the Indian community in Trinidad. Norman showed his manuscript music from A House for Mr Biswas in a filmed interview and sang its lyrics. In 2005, Norman released an album called Completing the Circle that features "Good Sign Bad Sign", the "Y," and a similar sounding song titled "________." For these songs Norman added lyrics that explain the origin and history of the "Y".

In 1935, a 24 year old Tadao Yoshida was working for a company producing X. While he was impressed by the product, his employer went bankrupt. In 1936 Yoshida founded the company that is today Y in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
In January 1946 the company registered the now famous Y trademark. A major technological change came in 1950, when the company purchased a chain machine from the U.S. that allowed the automation of the X making process.In 1958, the company introduced its new Conceal brand that does not show the teeth of the X which was an instant hit.
Today, Y is the world's largest X manufacturer and claims to be the first X manufacturing company to promote environmental protection measures. Y developed a line of "environmentally friendly X", following the company's philosophy "The Cycle of Goodness" which means that one prospers when one renders benefit to others.

Legend has it that this device was named for its inventor, a British physician who lived during the reign of Charles II. According to a study at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Western Ontario in Canada, X were more effective in deactivating hydrogen peroxide than Y, and both were more effective than gin or vermouth alone (0.072% of peroxide control for X, 0.157% for Y 58.3% for gin and 1.90% for vermouth). The reason for this is not clear, but it may well not involve the facile oxidation of reactive components. Moreover, preliminary experiments indicate that both X and Y are less well endowed with polyphenols than Sauvignon white wine or Scotch whisky.
